BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Idaho Senator Larry Craig has decided to resign from the Senate.

That's according to Republican officials who tell The Associated Press Craig will make the announcement tomorrow. The decision comes amid furor over his arrest and recent guilty plea over an incident in a men's room at the Minneapolis airport. Three state Republican officials say Craig will say he'll resign effective September 30th.

Craig has maintained that he did nothing wrong, other than pleading guilty to a lesser charge without consulting a lawyer. However, there has been little support for Craig in Idaho or in Washington.

Several Republican officials said earlier today Idaho's governor appears to have settled on Lieutenant Governor Jim Risch as a replacement for Craig.
