LONDON, (AFP) - Cesc Fabregas preserved Arsenal's unbeaten start to the season with a late goal that earned the Gunners a 1-1 draw at Liverpool on Sunday.

Steven Gerrard's seventh-minute strike had looked set to be enough to give Liverpool victory but Arsene Wenger's side were rewarded for a second-half fightback when Fabregas claimed his 10th goal of the season with ten minutes left.

The draw was enough to send Arsenal back to the top of the table, ahead of Manchester United on goals scored having played a match less than the champions.

Liverpool, who also have a match in hand on United, are in sixth place, six points off the leaders.

Elswhere, new Tottenham manager Juande Ramos was given a glimpse of the task he faces at White Hart Lane as his new charges squandered a lead to lose 2-1 to Blackburn, a result which leaves them languishing in the relegation zone.

The Spaniard, who was watching from the directors' box after completing his switch from Sevilla on Saturday, saw Robbie Keane's penalty over-turned by an opportunist strike from Rovers top-scorer Benny McCarthy and a last-gasp winner from Christopher Samba.

Gary Megson's first match in charge of Bolton ended in a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa that, combined with Derby's defeat at home to Everton, was enough to lift his new club off the bottom of the table.

A superbly executed free-kick from Nicolas Anelka had given Bolton the lead mid-way through the first half and encouraged hopes of a winning start to the Megson era.

But Martin O'Neill's side got back on level terms when Gabriel Agbonlahor's shot found the net via the chest of Luke Moore 12 minutes after half-time. Ayegbeni Yakubu inspired Everton to a 2-0 win at Derby.

After making Everton's first half opener with a cute dummy that allowed Mikel Arteta a clear run into the box, Nigeria star Yakubu made sure of the points with a low left-foot strike just after the hour mark.
