Some users have been having issues with a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) after an installation, as I previously wrote. Apple has posted a support document on their site, which coincidentally also appears as the top search on the support page, indicating how prevalent the issue is.

According to the support document the issue may be related to "third-party 'enhancement' software installed that does not work with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard."

On the support forum, are several messages that seem to point to Unsanity LLC's APE (Application Enhancer) software as at least one culprit. This software allows Mac users to customize the look and feel of Mac OS. One thread in particular indicated that Unsanity said users must have 2.0.3 or later prior to installing Leopard.

Apple's suggestions are for users to either:

* perform an Archive and Install installation of Leopard, or
* use the command line to remove the application enhancement software (advanced users)

Of course, some users are seeing BSODs who don't have APE installed, so we have probably not seen the end of this issue.
