Panasonic is very busy at CES this week, as hot on the heels of their announcement of a portable DVR (with Comcast), they announced plans to integrate their new VIERA PZ850 line of Plasma Internet-connected HDTV's with Google's YouTube and Picasa.
According to the press release, Panasonic's "elegant" (their words!) VIERA CAST interface will allow users to easily browse, find and watch videos from YouTube and view photos from their Picasa Web Albums.
I'll interject here with: without a real keyboard, it's never easy to do anything - like search for a show - on a TiVo or other such DVR, so don't tell me it'll be easy. Photobucket Browsing, maybe. Or if I can somehow use a wireless keyboard (?!).
And - how much you want to bet we get Google ads?
However, I can't dismiss the fact that it'll still be great to be able to watch this stuff on HDTV. Unfortunately, Panasonic may find this TV is called the VIERA less often than it's called the Google TV.
