NEW DELHI: Has the teenaged wizard cast a benumbing spell on those indulging in book piracy? Even one week after the latest Harry Potter was launched, not a single case of the book being pirated has been reported in the country.
Aca-Law, a firm roped in especially by Penguin, the Indian distributor of J K Rowling's "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" to check piracy of the book in the country, says not a single instance of pirated copies being available in the market has been reported.
"Not a single pirated copy of the latest Potter book is available anywhere in the market. And it's a matter of pride that we have contained piracy," said Akash Chittranshi, head of Aca-Law.
He said several under-cover teams of the firm are keeping an eye on printing presses suspected to be involved in printing pirated copies.
The firm has identified the areas in all metros where the pirated versions of books are printed and is keeping an eye on those areas.
Meanwhile, complaints about piracy of the Potter book have come from Pakistan and Bangladesh, Chittranshi said.
